Well its official, we have started a brand new year... and my, is it going to be a busy one! I haven't updated the blog in a long time, naughty me, which means I have a lot of things I have to fill you all in on. I arrived home last night after being away for roughly three weeks on two separate adventures.
The first of which was a once in a lifetime experience of taking part in a sail training voyage aboard the Leeuwin 2. I spent seven days aboard the ship, learning everything it takes to make a ship with 16 sails go! It was an incredible oppertunity which ill never forget!

The second adventure was a trip to Adelaide to catch up with all my family that lives over there. We had a fantastic Christmas and new years, and I really enjoyed getting to know my cousins, most of which I havent seen since we were really young. It was also great to go to the city and stock up on clothes and other essential items :) We drove home, over the nullabor plains, getting to see the great Australian bight and lots of the countryside that Australia is renowned for. Morty sure did enjoy driving past all those cows! All up the trip took us three days to drive from Adelaide, home to Karratha.
For those of you who live in Australia (or those on Mums constant email list) you would have heard about Cyclone Christine, who brought her wrath upon the pilbara coast last week. A category three cyclone which brought havock upon Karratha. As we were away, we were a little bit worried about the damage that she had done, thankyou to those who kept me updated with messages about the power outage and videos of the howling wind outside your doors. Thanks also to those who went around to my house to check out the damage for me, your help is greatly appreciated.
ANYWAY... Upon our arrival home last night at 9 oclock, we opened the door to the most disgusting stench, which turned out to be the fridges and freezers... during the power outage, the circut breaker had "tripped" meaning that the fridges and freezers could not be turned back on. Now imagine, a freezer that is full of assorted items like meat, bait, bacon etc which has been left off for six days, sitting in the house with temperatures soaring past 40 degrees celcius. Needless to say, the clean up this morning was not a fun one. Apart from that, we had a lot of trees in our backyard blow over, including our big old paperbark which blew over onto the roof.
2014 is going to be a big year, I am starting year 11 which is going to be a big shock to the system.
Have a fantastic year everyone, i look forward to hearing from you all.
Em xx
